This painting was completed at home from on-site sketches done in my room in Vernazza, Italy, one of the Cinque Terre, while travelling in Liguria this year. I was sitting on the bed in the room, trying to decide what to paint, when I looked up into the dresser mirror which was reflecting the window, opposite, with its light and scenic buildings outside. The scene was beautiful, combining the dark coolness of the room with the warmth of the light pouring in the window and the scene beyond.
