I did most of this painting on New Year's eve, and finished it a couple of days later. The painting began when I was demonstrating for my mom how I sometimes splatter and layer paint in the beginning steps of a painting. I found a photograph of goats that I liked and told her I was going to paint them on this mess of abstract paint I had made on the paper. She couldn't believe I was going to turn that mess into a painting of goats. The painting went on to win a juror's award in the 2002 Utah Watercolor Society Spring Show (and my mom likes it).
